Playroom Painting Mistakes To Skip In St. Helens, OR

Your playroom may be well built and be full of the best kind of toys for your child or children, but if it doesn't look all that good in terms of the walls, it is quite possible that it will not be the place where they will want to visit regularly.

If you paint the playroom you can get it to look a lot nicer, and it's important that you avoid certain key mistakes that can entirely throw off the painting project and make it take longer than necessary or cost too much.

With that being the case, let's have a look at some playroom painting mistakes to skip when you want a nicely painted playroom.

1. Using The Wrong Kind Of Paint

Though you may not realize it, it's entirely possible that you will do everything right while painting your playroom and yet make a fundamental mistake when you have chosen the paint for the room, which will end up having long term repercussions.

If the kind of paint that you use for painting the room does not allow you to clean the walls so easily when they get dirt on them, you will find that you are in fact causing great issues that will then have to be addressed.

Specifically, when you make use of glossy paint it is much easier to clean the walls insofar as you will be able to take a moist cloth or even a wet paper towel and get the walls to get cleaner.

Some of the alternates, however, such as flat paint cannot be so easily cleaned and in fact can lead to your removing the paint as well as the dirt on the wall.

Considering how often you will likely have to clean the walls of a playroom, it's a good idea to make use of a glossy paint so that you will be able to clean the walls.

2. Leaving All The Furniture In Place

There are going to be certain pieces of furniture that will be in front of the walls that you are to be painting and if your thought process is that the walls won't be seen due to the furniture and thus don't need paint, this is a mistake.

Even if it were the case that the furniture will remain exactly in that same location, which it never precisely does, you will still almost always be able to see behind the furniture and tell that the wall is unpainted.

The better thing for you to do is to make sure that you move furniture away from the walls and to cover it with cloth or tarp so that you ensure that you don't get paint on the furniture.

3. Rushing Through The Paint Project

In a painting project such as the one in which you are painting your playroom, it's quite possible that you will have a good look at the size and scope of the project and try to get through it as quickly as possible. This too would be quite a mistake, as the kind of rushing that most people do tends to lead to things like paint spilling in places that make it hard to clean, and it also gives you the likelihood that you are going to make an actual painting mistake while you are painting that you could miss due to your haste - and you then have to go back and correct the mistake or mistakes.

The time that you spend correcting the errors that you make is more than the time that you save by trying to rush through the project.

If you have cleaned your kid's bedroom doors and then just apply the primer to the doors without letting them dry first, for example, it's entirely possible that the primer will later bubble up and make a rather unpleasant looking surface.

Allowing time for the surface to fully dry will help to prevent these sorts of issues.
