Living Room Ceiling Painting Mistakes To Avoid In Scappoose, OR
The living room ceiling may not be something you think of as being important to paint, but on occasion you are going to need to paint to keep it looking its best.
However, you should realize that the painting of a living room ceiling can come with issues and if you make certain mistakes you will find that you may do so poorly that you have to take on the painting project all over again from the beginning.
With that being the case, let's have a look at some living room ceiling painting mistakes to avoid for when you want a well painted living room ceiling.
1. Using The Wrong Kind Of Paint
One thing that you’re going to want to do when you’re looking to paint your ceiling is to make sure that you are using the right kind of paint as the wrong kind of paint is really going to throw your whole project off.
You are going to want to ideally make use of a paint that is going to be low in terms of dripping because as you can imagine, just being applied to the ceiling is going to get any paint to drip down.
However, by making use of a paint that is not meant for painting a ceiling such as a standard interior paint you will exacerbate the problem and find your ceiling paint dripping even more than it really should be.
There’s ceiling paint that’s better for painting your ceiling and much better at avoiding these drips.
2. Leaving The Floor Uncovered
Speaking of drips, even with the best ceiling paint you’re going to want to make sure that your floor is fully covered as any paint that comes down from the ceiling is sure to make a stain on your floor if it is not covered.
There are other ways that paint can get on your floor, such as when you’re moving the paint bucket from one area to another or even when you’re pouring paint from the bucket to a tray.
By covering the floor with a good covering or a tarp you are going to protect the floor and ensure that you’re not going to need to spend hours trying to clean up a mess of paint on the floor.
3. Leaving All Furniture In The Room
Though you might be looking around the room and thinking of how difficult it is to get furniture out of the room, it’s quite well worth it when you think of how much of a stumbling block furniture can be in getting your ceiling painted.
Indeed, and not just in terms of getting in your way but making the project more or less safe depending on how much furniture is in the way.
By removing the furniture you remove the odds of getting paint on it and you also keep the painting project safer.
If you can stay clear of the furniture as you paint you can cover it with tarp so that you can keep the paint away from and off of the furniture in your room.
4. Not Cleaning The Ceiling
You can spend all the time you want applying primer and paint to the ceiling but if you first don’t make the time to clean the ceiling and allow time for it to dry, you may be performing an exercise in futility and end up with a rather unpleasant looking ceiling.
Paint on top of dirt or grime is not going to look all that good and will end up looking like quite a mess — you want to thoroughly clean the ceiling and if it ends up not being dry when you’re done, allow time for it to dry before moving on.
Be sure that you are careful in all things related to time, as we will discuss next.
5. Rushing Through The Painting Process
Lastly, remember that rushing through the painting process is a way that you can find yourself making mistakes that are going to cost you a lot more time than what you save by rushing.
You are also going to make more of a mess and waste more paint and primer, which is sure to eat into your budget — never a good thing for your painting project.
Take your time as you go through the process of painting your ceiling and your results will be much better as you finish them.
