Signs It's Time To Paint Your Kitchen Cabinets In Scappoose, OR
When you're looking to update the overall appearance of your kitchen, you may want to consider the role that your cabinets play in the room and how they are contributing to that look.
You may think that you need to entirely replace your cabinets, but there may be an alternative which is better budget wise, which is to paint the cabinets and to give them a new life entirely.
Once you have already determined that your cabinets are sufficiently solid, in good shape, and just don't look their best, here are some signs it's time to paint your kitchen cabinets for a nicer looking kitchen.
1. Paint Is Peeling
One pretty straightforward way to know that the time has come to paint your kitchen cabinets is that you see peeling on the paint.
There are a lot of reasons why paint will start peeling off of your cabinets but sometimes it's just a matter of time and if your paint is starting to peel, it's not going to reverse course and put itself back on.
The time to paint is not too long after you observe signs of painting so that you have less of a messy cleanup ahead of you and you can get the project done in a timely manner.
It's also easier to paint when you have less peeling paint to deal with in the preparation stages of the painting project.
2. Paint Is Fading
Another good sign that you're going to want to paint your cabinets is that you notice that the color of the cabinets is not quite what it used to be, and it's really not looking its best.
You can have the best color in the world picked out for your cabinet, but if some time has passed and the color has faded, it's just not going to look as good.
When your cabinets are looking so different from their original painting that you can barely recognize them, you may want to take action and paint them.
The good thing about this is that you likely already enjoy the color that you had so you aren't going to spend a lot of time thinking about what color to choose.
3. You're Looking To Sell
Though you may have thought that you had a good painting idea when you painted your cabinets, that doesn't mean the fantastic color choice you made will translate to a house sale years later.
The best thing to do when you're looking to sell your home is to consult with the realtor that is going to be listing it, because the hot color of today may be a dud five years from now.
That realtor may very well be able to guide you to a color that will allow you to get your home sold faster and ideally for a better price!
On the plus side, you won't really have to be too involved in the color selection as you're really just going to be going with what will help you to sell the house!
4. You Just Don't Like The Color
Lastly, there's always the possibility that you may just not like the color anymore and that is perfectly fine!
You may have thought you had a great color idea a number of years ago and it worked well for you then, but that doesn't mean that you have to stick with it forever!
Indeed, you can change your mind about your color selection and more onto a new color and enjoy it!
When you do this, of course, you should realize that it's going to be possible that you aren't going to like the color you go with later on and that is okay -- it just means that you will need to get out the brushes once again.
