Dining Room Cabinet Painting With Less Mess In St. Helens, OR

The painting of a dining room cabinet can indeed be quite a messy affair, but what people sometimes don't realize is that there are a number of things that you can do to reduce the mess.

The better you know about these means, the more likely you are to be able to carry out a painting project for your dining room cabinet or cabinets with less of a mess.

With that being the case, let's have a good look at some tips for dining room cabinet painting with less mess for when you want nicely painted dining room cabinets.

1. Cover The Floor

Though you might not think of covering the floor as being a way that you can protect it from the mess that can sometimes come about from painting your cabinet or cabinets, that's precisely what will happen.

The floor is a sensitive area of the room that is prone to having paint dripping on it as you apply paint to your cabinet or cabinets.

Be sure that the floor covering you choose for your dining room cabinet painting project adequately covers the area near to where you are painting and that it is not the kind of material that would allow paint to go through it.

2. Remove Hardware

Though you may have a look at the hardware on your cabinet and think that it would be good to leave it on during your painting project, the reality is that leaving it on makes for a messier project that will take longer.

Indeed, for the art of applying paint to a cabinet and even primer means that you are not going to want to get it onto the hardware, and if you leave it on you will have to cover the hardware with painter's tape and even then still have precision in painting so as not to get paint on the hardware... and it will slow down the project.

Better to remove the hardware entirely before you start painting the cabinet or cabinets, and even though you will then want to keep track of which hardware goes where, it is certainly better than the alternative of having to avoid getting paint and primer on your hardware.

You can also perhaps consider replacing the hardware while you are at it!

3. Primer First

The primer that you apply to your cabinet is going to go a long way in helping you have less of a mess in painting said cabinet or cabinets.

The presence of primer is going to be good for you because it is going to help the paint you subsequently apply to go on more smoothly.

It's also going to help you to get the paint that you apply to stay on the surfaces that you will be painting for a longer period of time, meaning that your paint job is going to last longer and you aren't going to need to spend the money for another painting project for a longer period of time -- a good deal if you are watching your budget as well.

4. Remove Doors And Drawers

Lastly, you should remember that if you remove the doors and drawers from your cabinet or cabinets, it will make the painting process much more easy and in fact have that process be a lot less messy.

This is because of the way that it is going to be easier to access the doors and drawers without having the cabinet or cabinets in the way.

It does seem like it will be a time consuming thing but it is well worth the effort you put in.
