Laundry Room Cabinet Painting Tips To Learn In Scappoose, OR
In looking to get your laundry room improved in terms of aesthetics, you may not even think about how much better it will be when you have properly painted cabinets.
However, an important thing to remember is that a good laundry room cabinet painting project goes even better when you take the time to learn about some of the better ways to get it done.
Today we are going to review some laundry room cabinet painting tips to learn for when you'd like a better painted cabinet in your laundry room.
1. Remove Hardware
One thing that you're goign to want to do when you're looking to paint your laundry room cabinet is to first remove the hardware that is on the doors and drawers of the cabinet.
Though it may not seem at all necessary to remove the hardware from your cabinet and you may think that you are just going to be able to paint around said hardware, this is much more e easily said than done.
The time that you spend protecting the hardware and then having to carefully paint around it so that you can still get all of the surfaces is much more than were you to just remove and then later replace that hardware.
2. Choose An Appropriate Color Or Colors
In painting a cabinet or cabinets in your laundry room, you may think that you are relegated to a basic white or off white color but this doesn't necessarily have to be the case.
The thing about a laundry room is that you don't have to make it one particular color -- and it definitely does not need to be white in order to make it appropriate for a laundry room.
What it does need to be is a color or colors that you find to be enjoyable for your laundry room and one of the best ways that you can do this is to make use of paint samples to see how the color or colors will look on your cabinet.
3. Cover The Floor
It's quite important for your painting project that you not need to spend a lot of time cleaning up after you have finished doing it and as such, if you can avoid getting paint on the floor this is going to be an important first step.
To facilitate this, you can lay down some tarp or drop cloth and then assure that this sort of floor covering is not going to move around at all as you are painting your cabinet or cabinets.
You are also going to want to make sure that the material that you use for this sort of protection is going to be protective against paint spills in the first place because otherwise it will have been a waste of time and money.
4. Primer First
Lastly, you should remember that when you are painting your cabinets you are going to want to apply a coat of primer before your first coat of paint so that you will have a better painted cabinet or cabinets.
One benefit of applying primer before your first coat of paint is that the paint is going to go on more smoothly.
Perhaps more importantly, the coat of primer is going to act as an adhesive to help your paint to stay on your cabinet for longer than if you were to apply the paint to bare surface.
It may seem like it's going to cost you more and that's true up front but the value of that investment is immense and will help you with your painting project in the long term.
