Safety Tips For Painting Your Bedroom Ceiling In Scappoose, OR

Once in awhile we look to make our homes look better through various means, and this includes rooms such as the bedroom -- and one nice way to get the room to be improved is through the painting of the ceiling.

However, a concern that can possibly arise when you are tackling any painting job (whether it involves the ceiling or otherwise) is the concern of safety which is not to be taken lightly -- for you can easily be quite hurt while painting if you do not take some basic precautions.

Today we are going to be reviewing some of the things that you can do in order to stay as safe as possible when painting your bedroom ceiling.

With that being the case, let's have a look at some safety tips for painting your bedroom ceiling when you want a well painted bedroom ceiling.

1. Remove Unnecessary Impediments

One thing that you're going to want to do when you're working on getting your bedroom ceiling painted is to make sure that you fully remove any impediments that may get in your way as you are making your way around the room.

This can include small furniture and other things that can be removed -- and in removing them, you are going to remove any possibility that you are going to get paint on them.

If it should happen that there is certain furniture that you just cannot remove for any reason (like your bed or dressers) you should think about how you are going to protect them during the painting process -- a tarp or a good quality drop cloth for example will help in doing this.

2. Stabilize Your Ladder And Avoid Makeshift Scaffolding

The pursuit of a well painted ceiling means that you are going to have to get close to the ceiling in some way to use a paint roller or paint brush or to get those tools close to the ceiling another way (like an extension pole)

A ladder is one fine way that you are going to be able to get up to the ladder, but it is well worth mentioning that something as simple as an A frame ladder can be dangerous if it is not set up in a stable manner.

If you can get someone to stand by the ladder and help you to stabilize it, that would be ideal but if you cannot do that, you should still be sure that you are placing the ladder on a flat and level surface.

The one thing that you are not going to want to do is to try to make some sort of makeshift scaffolding system using things that you have laying around the house as this will almost surely cause quite a good deal of injury as they are prone to lack of stability and collapse.

3. Ventilate The Room Properly

Though it might sound a bit odd, there are some who would think that because you are painting your ceiling that means that you do not have to ventilate the room that you are painting -- this is of course not the case at all and you absolutely need to ventilate the room.

The best thing you're going to be able to do, ventilation wise, is to create a cross breeze by having two sources of air available and open, such as a door and a second door or even a door and a window.

If you can only open a few windows to the outside that is certainly good because you will be able to allow the fumes from the paint to exit the room while you are painting -- and of course it doesn't hurt to take an occasional break during the painting process to get some fresh air and not to exhaust yourself over the course of the painting project.
