Foyer Painting Techniques To Learn In Scappoose, OR

The foyer is the first introduction to your home interior that new visitors get, and as such it's a good idea to have it look nice -- and painting the foyer is one way to get that foyer looking nicer.

However, you may want to note that just because you are painting your foyer that doesn't meant it will automatically go well -- there are of course tricks and techniques to help you improve upon your foyer painting.

Let's have a look at some of these tricks and foyer painting techniques to learn when you want a better painted foyer.

1. Choose An Appropriate Color

One key thing that you're going to want to do when you're looking to paint your foyer is to paint an appropriate foyer color or colors for the walls.

The reason an appropriate color is so important is that you will need to consider once again the fact that you are welcoming people into your home for possibly the first time and that's the first thing they will see -- the color of your foyer.

There are colors that are considerably more welcoming than others and some that are downright hostile to the person entering -- and you are going to need to think about the color options and the way that it may have an affect on people.

2. Remove Decorations

Though it may be nice to have decorations on your walls, it's not going to be useful in terms of painting as you not only are seeking to avoid getting paint on the decorations but they pretty much always get in the way of your getting paint on the wall.

It therefore is necessary for you to remove the decorations that you have hanging up on the wall before you start the painting process -- and while you have them down, you can honestly take the time to assess if you want to change things up and replace the decorations with others that you may have in the house.

Bear in mind that the time that it takes to do this is necessarily going to be more efficient and overall better for the painting process than trying to paint around the decorations.

3. Primer Before Paint

The smoothness of a surface is going to be quite telling as to how well a painting project is going to go -- the more smooth the surface you look to paint, the better it will go.

By making use of a coat of primer before you apply a coat of paint, you will have a much better painting project because the paint will go onto the walls more easily.

As an added incentive, a coat of primer is good for painting because it helps to get the paint to stay on the surfaces of your walls for a longer period of time, meaning that it will be a longer time before you will need to paint again.

4. Clean Before Painting

If there's one big mistake that people will make when deciding about painting their home interior and exterior, it's that somehow painting will be a cure all that will take a dirty surface and make it look amazing through the power of paint.

This is not the case at all and if you've ever seen a dirty surface that has paint applied to it, it looks remarkably like a dirty surface with paint on it.

It's important to clean your wall surfaces and to allow them to fully dry before you apply your primer and coats of paint because otherwise you will be wasting not only your time and effort but your paint and primer as they will not look remotely good.

5. Ladder For Higher Surfaces

Lastly, you should remember that you may have some higher surfaces that need to be painted in your foyer and those should be reached with a ladder.

This is the most safe and efficient way to reach up to your foyer higher surfaces.

Remember that the four feet of your ladder should be placed down on stable flooring and that you should ideally have someone to hold the ladder for you if possible -- and to not try to stand on the top two rungs.
